No. It is one of your extra independent PoE 2 characters performing assigned pickup work.
Can more than one follower collect?
MultiPilot can use active followers from P2 through P6; assignment depends on the selected party mode and rules.
Does my main character have to stop fighting?
No. Your main can keep clearing while another character handles selected drops.
